The new Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery is taking shape in the heart of the town. It occupies the old Music Hall: an extraordinary complex of buildings including a rare medieval stone mansion (the only one of its kind in this region). These buildings are currently being conserved, restored and re-developed.
When work is complete, the buildings will provide an exciting new venue for the town, housing a new museum and special exhibitions gallery, together with a cafe bar, shop and a new visitor information centre.
This project has been funded by Shropshire Council with assitance from the European Regional Development Fund, Heritage Lottery Fund, Arts Council, the Walker Trust, The Art Fund and Friends of Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery.
