This view of Mardol Head shows on the right, three houses, one brick-built (17th Century) and two half-timbered which have all now been demolished (in the 1860's) to build the first Market Hall. The ground floors of these three houses are portrayed as shops, as are the ground floors of buildings in Shoplatch at the end of Mardol Head.
