The Brothers Burton
- Production Period:
- George IV
- Object Name: Oil Painting
- Description: Early nineteenth century portrait oil painting of the Brothers Burton by Philip Corbet, 1827.
- Description: The Burton family of Longnor are one of Shropshire's oldest. The three brothers in this delightful portrait are Robert, once Sheriff of Salop now aged 73 (on the right), and his younger brothers the Reverend Henry, Vicar of Atcham (left) and Edward, once Mayor of Shrewsbury and Sheriff of Radnorshire (centre).
The fact that one of these elderly gentlemen is wearing knee breeches in 1827 suggest that he was somewhat conservative when it came to fashion!
