Bottle Containing Small Bones Found at Wroxteer
- Object Name: Watercolour Painting
- Description: Early nineteenth century watercolour painting of a Roman Bottle containing a cremation burial found at Wroxeter, 1810.
- Description: This watercolour illustration shows a glass bottle excavated at Wroxeter in 1810. The bottle contained small bones. It was common in the Roman period for cremations to be buried in bottles or pots. This is one example of such a cremation. Unfortunately, the bottle itself did not make it into our collections and so its whereabouts are unknown.
