Di Purser Exhibition Dates - 25th January to 29th February 2020 As part of the Wilfred Owen Centenary Commemorations in 2018, the museum held an exhibition showcasing 19 local artists work. The work responded to Wilfred Owen’s poetry. Entries in the exhibition were judged by a panel and the winning artwork was by Di Purser called 'Futility'. As part of the prize, Di has been invited by the museum to create a series of new paintings, being exhibited on the balcony. Di has created over ten new paintings, several of which are inspired by and respond to the museum’s collection. Her work has a strong design and narrative. She uses mapping, acrylic paint mixes, inks and illustrative features within her work to overlap the past and the present. Di will be running an art workshop: Saturday 8th February, 10.30am to 3.30pm. Over 16’s (under 14’s with supervising adult). Cost £55 For beginners You will have the opportunity to create your own piece of abstract art inspired by the museum collections. Di will guide you through the fun process of transforming a lifelike drawing into an abstract painting, using inks, paints and acrylic mixes. During the morning you will explore different techniques and draw from exhibits in the museum galleries. In the afternoon you will get involved in the messier techniques and turn your drawings into paintings. Biog Di was born in Walsall, West Midlands, but spent much of her childhood in Ludlow. She completed a BA (hons) in Textiles at Loughborough University in 1971 and has had a varied career as both a lecturer, teacher and practitioner. She has exhibited widely in the Midlands and Welsh Borders including themed group exhibitions and one man shows. She has interests in Art History, townscapes, landscapes and hill and mountain walking, which is reflected in her work. To book: 01743 258881 or email [email protected]
